Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, begins at sundown on Sept. 6. There are a variety of reasons for Jews to hear the blowing of a shofar, a ram’s horn, on Rosh Hashana. One reason is it’s a wake up call to change behaviors from negative to positive in the new year.
